Men Win Third Straight 9-0 over Ravens

Easton, Mass. - Stonehill Men's Tennis strengthened their
record to 7-3 with an impressive 9-0 victory over Franklin Pierce
(1-5, 1-5 Northeast-10 Conference). The win is the team's
third straight triumph since falling to West Virginia Wesleyan on
March 6th. The Conference win also put Stonehill's total
to a perfect 3-0, joining Bryant (4-0) and Saint Michael's (4-0) as
the only remaining unbeaten teams.
Michael Mashkevich (Framingham,
Mass./Framingham) evened his personal record at first singles with
a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Mashkevich, a sophomore, teamed with
freshman Tom Fayed (Glastonbury,
Conn./Glastonbury) to take an 8-4 victory in first singles as
well.
The remaining Skyhawks, Fayed, Jason Allegretti
(Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) and Will Herchel (Hampden,
Mass./Minnechaug Regional), were victorious in straight sets.
Senior John McGaffigan (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) and
rookie Jon Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown)
both won by default. Burke and captain Mike
Allen (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) received a win by default
at third doubles.
The Skyhawks host two Northeast-10 contests this weekend.
Saturday Stonehill will entertain Saint Michael's (5-4, 4-0 NE-10)
at 12:00 p.m. The Purple and White finish the weekend against
Pace (4-4, 3-1 NE-10). Sunday's game is scheduled for 12:00
p.m.
