Men Land Three on All-Academic Team

Northeast-10 Conference Release

Easton, Mass. - Three of Stonehill's NCAA Tournament bound men's tennis players were named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Team on Tuesday.  Sophomore Michael Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass./Framingham), junior Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) and senior captain Mike Allen (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) were honored for their off-the-field accomplishments.  They are three key contributors to Stonehill's 18 win season, a new best in the program's 56-year history.

Allegretti, who competes at No. 3 singles, leads the team with a 16-5 overall record, including an 8-1 mark against Northeast-10 opponents. Second year player Mashkevich is 17-14 combined at both No.1 singles and No. 1 doubles action with partner, freshman Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury).  Allen finished his season a perfect 7-0, including a 3-0 Northeast-10 record.

The Skyhawks will compete in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, when they host Queens (N.Y.).  Stonehill College's fourth seed in the east is the highest seed the Purple and White have ever experienced.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
