WALTHAM, Mass.-- The Stonehill men's tennis team opened Northeast-10 Conference play with a 6-3 league dual-match triumph over Bentley Friday afternoon on the Bentley Courts.

Senior Matt Grabala (Bristol, Conn.) was one of three individuals to win in both singles and doubles action on the day for the visiting Skyhawks (5-1, 1-0 Northeast-10), as he overcame an early deficit to post a three-set victory at the number one singles spot. Freshman Mike Mashkevich (Framingham, Mass.) was a straight-set winner at number two singles and teamed up with Grabala for an 8-2 triumph at the number two doubles spot for Stonehill, while sophomore Will Herchel (Hampden, Mass.) also notched a three-set victory at number six singles and teamed up with fellow sophomore Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I.) for an 8-5 win at number one doubles for the visitors. Freshman Mike Leone (Cataumet, Mass.) closed out the scoring for the Skyhawks with Stonehill's third three-set singles victory at the number four spot in the lineup.

Sophomore Mike Dolan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was a winner in both singles and doubles play in the setback for the host Falcons (6-6, 5-1 Northeast-10), as he won in straight sets at number five singles and teamed up with senior Mike McCrillis (Kennebunkport, Maine) for an 8-2 win at number two doubles. Sophomore Miles Holman (East Longmeadow, Mass.) collected Bentley's other point of the afternoon with a three-set win at number three singles.

Both schools will host American International in their next respective Northeast-10 dual-matches, as Stonehill will open its home slate on Sunday afternoon on the Stonehill Courts at 1:00 p.m. after Bentley hosts the Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon on the Bentley Courts beginning at 2:00 p.m.
