Men’s Soccer Falls to Southern N.H., 5-2, in Season Finale

Ryan scores two goals for his first-career points

EASTON, Massachusetts (November 6, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team concluded its season as Southern New Hampshire University claimed a 5-2 victory Wednesday afternoon on Skyhawk Field in Northeast-10 Conference play.  

By the Numbers

  • Stonehill's (4-12-1, 2-9-1 NE10) saw Paddy Ryan with his first and second career goals, while Luka Gjuraj recorded his first-career points with an assist. Billy Troast and Andrew Hammersley combined for six saves.
  • Southern New Hampshire (9-4-3, 7-3-2 NE10) saw Nadjib Chibout with two goals, while Jannik Mohr, Gabe Pinhancos, and Anes Djema each contributed one goal each. Sinisa Sprecakovic and Mathis Daury tallied assists, as Patrick Quinn recorded three saves in the win.

How it Happened:

  • Southern New Hampshire saw the advantage in the first half, as the Penmen drew a foul in the 19th minute of play, as Mohr put it towards the back left post for a 1-0 lead.
  • Eight minutes later, Keegan Nutt launched his first shot of the game from the top of the 18-yard box, as Quinn came out a step and caught the strike at 26:56.
  • Following the Skyhawks' shot on goal, the Penmen brought the ball to the left corner, as Sprecakovic cross the ball to the top of the 18-yard box, as Pinhancos chested the ball and sent it towards goal after a bounce to put Southern New Hampshire up 2-0 at 27:39.
  • Two minutes later, Stonehill was setting up its offensive attack, but the Penmen cut off a slow roller and Chibout sent in a sliding shot from just outside the six-yard box extending their lead to three, 3-0.
  • In the 38th minute, Southern New Hampshire set up for a one of their three corner kicks in the first half and Djema headed it to the upper 90 for a 4-0 lead.
  • Stonehill saw an initial shot by Gjuraj off a free kick, that Quinn punched over the crossbar with four minutes remaining in the half, as he then lifted a corner kick up towards the back right post finding Ryan who headed the ball home cutting the deficit to three, 4-1, at 40:40.

  • Gjuraj tallied his first-career point with an assist in the season finale 
    Four minutes into the second half, the Ryan capitalized on a long run down the left flank as he crossed the ball into the box putting away his second-career goal at 49:50, 4-2.
  • With just over 10 minutes left in the second Daury sent a low cross from the right flank just inside the 18-yard box to Chibout who was at the right top corner of the six-yard box sending a one-touch to the right upper 90, putting the Penmen back up three, 5-2.
