COLCHESTER, Vermont (October 13, 2018) –The Stonehill College men's soccer team fell to Saint Michael's College (4-7-1, 3-5-1 NE10), 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Duffy Field in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Stonehill (5-6-1, 4-5-0 NE10) saw Billy Troast record four saves.

Stonehill had an early opportunity in the ninth minute of play as Kevin O'Shea took the ball one on one with the goalkeeper who kick saved the ball with his left foot for the Skyhawks first shot of the game. The Skyhawks then saw back-to-back shots in the 20th minute from Justin Brehm and Ryan Chieffo, as both were stopped by the Purple Knights' Leland Gazo. Saint Michael's reacted with their own shot on goal after a corner kick in the 24th minute, and a header by Cam Goodrich that was blocked by the Skyhawks defense. At 38:30, Saint Michael's tallied its fourth corner kick that sailed into the box to Brady Channell who headed it into the back of the net for a 1-0 advantage.

Stonehill came out with urgency as they took the ball to the corner, setting up Chieffo for the team's third corner kick, but Saint Michael's cleared the attempt and took the ball to their own attacking third for their own corner kick that resulted in a header by Goodrich and save by Troast. After a few fouls called on Stonehill, the Purple Knights saw its advantage and Jacob von Giebel took an initial shot at 62:38 and put back his own rebound for his seventh goal of the season at 62:40, giving Saint Michael's a two-goal lead, 2-0.

The Skyhawks saw back-to-back corners and header shots, but the Purple Knights' defense stood tall. Stonehill continued bringing the ball to their attacking third and totaled eight shots in the final minutes of play, but were unable to capitalize.

Stonehill will host Saint Anselm College (0-9-2, 0-7-2 NE10) on Wednesday, October 17 in NE10 play on Skyhawk Field with a start time of 3:00 p.m.
