Stonehill's All-Time CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees

EASTON, Mass. (November 10, 2017) – Stonehill College men's soccer senior forward Adam Branco (Naugatuck, Mass./Naugatuck) earned Academic All-District I first team honor for men's soccer as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in Division II from the East Region, as announced by the organization on Thursday. With his first team selection, Branco is now eligible for Academic All-America honors to be released later this month.

This is just the second time that a men's soccer player has received this honor, as Tyler Hebert '11 was named to the second team in 2010. Branco is one of four Northeast-10 Conference players to be named to the District 1 first team. Branco, who has earned a 3.73 cumulative grade point average as an international business major, collects his first honor at the conclusion of his fourth year on the men's soccer team.

Academically, Branco has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, and he received the St. Thomas Acquinas medal for the highest GPA on the team during his junior year. Branco was the main offensive force for the Skyhawks as he notched nine goals and six assists this season. In the conference, Branco finished fifth in goals and fourth in assists.

Last season, the senior collected his second All-Conference third team honor, as he finished eighth in the conference with eight goals. Once again he led the team in scoring with his eight goals and one assist for 17 total points in the season.

As a sophomore, Branco notched a career-best 11-goal season and lead the team with 26 points. He was named to the NE10 All-Conference second team for his first-career accolade for his outstanding season. That season, he was also named to the Catholic Cup All-Tournament Team for the second time.

A 2014 graduate of Naugatuck High School, the senior started in 46 of the 66 games played in during his four years as a Skyhawk. He has totaled 29 goals and 11 assists for 69 points and has put in five game winners during his career. He also accumulated 22 multi-point games in his career, where his best happened twice combining for six points during a 6-2 win over Saint Anselm College and a 4-3 victory over the University of New Haven, scoring three goals in each.

Stonehill concluded the season with a 6-10-2 overall mark and a 3-9-1 NE10 Conference record. The Skyhawks finished 10th in the conference out of 14 teams.
