Adam Branco scored his third goal of the season to tie the game, 1-1

NYACK, N.Y. (September 6, 2016) – The Stonehill men's soccer team topped Nyack College, 2-1, in overtime at Moseley Field Wednesday evening.

Stonehill (2-1) junior James O'Shea (Quincy, Mass./Quincy) tallied his third goal of his career and second game-winning goal, while classmate Adam Branco (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck) recorded his 15th score of his career and third of the season.

Nyack (1-2) freshman Benjamin Wasem registered his first career goal.

After 62 minutes of scoreless action and a Warriors 12-7 shot advantage, Wasem capitalized on a corner kick by Francois Legeodec by heading it past the Skyhawks' Conor McDonough (Bridgewater, Mass./Coyle & Cassidy), putting Nyack up 1-0.

Stonehill would not go down without a fight as O'Shea responded eight minutes later with a pass in front of the net to Branco who would chip in the ball to knot up the contest, 1-1.

Regulation expired as Nyack still held the better shooting advantage over two halves, 16-10.

Playing in their first overtime contest of the season, the Skyhawks emerged victorious on O'Shea's goal at the 91:48 mark. Sophomore Michael Fraioli (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) sent a cross into the box to O'Shea, who found the lower corner putting Stonehill on top, 2-1.

Making his third start of the season, McDonough recorded five saves for the Skyhawks, while Wiktor Lasota recorded four for the Warriors.

Stonehill is back in action on next Tuesday, September 13 when it travels to Albany, New York to take on its first Northeast-10 competitor, The College of Saint Rose for a 7 p.m. contest.
