Stonehill Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award


Former captain Tim Canniff, '14, helped Stonehill earn its second straight NSCAA Team Academic Award, as he posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the Fall 2013 semester.

Skyhawks among 282 men's squads to post team grade point average of 3.0 or higher in 2013-14 academic year

EASTON, Mass. (December 1, 2014) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team has received a Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), it was announced last week.

Stonehill was among 869 collegiate soccer teams (282 men's, 587 women's) to be recognized by the NSCAA for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2013-14 academic year. Head Coach Jim Reddish's Skyhawks earned a 3.15 team GPA, marking the second consecutive season that Stonehill has been honored.

A total of 19 student-athletes from the men's soccer team were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Fall 2013 Commissioner's Honor Roll, while 16 Skyhawks landed on the conference's Spring 2014 Honor Roll.

Former captain Tim Canniff, '14, headlined the list with his selection to the NE-10's Fall Academic All-Conference team after registering a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester. Canniff was also among four Skyhawks to earn a GPA of 3.50 or better during the spring semester.

Stonehill finished the 2013 campaign at 5-10-1, including 4-8-1 in NE-10 action. The Skyhawks bounced back this fall, posting an overall record of 11-6-1 (9-4 NE-10) before hosting the program's first home conference tournament match since 1994.
