NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (October 14, 2014) – Merrimack College, ranked No. 22 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Poll, scored three times in the first half en route to a 3-0 victory over Stonehill College this evening in Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer action at Martone-Mejail Field.

Merrimack senior midfielder Michael Rincon (Medford, Massachusetts/Malden) factored into all three of the Warriors goals, as he scored his third of the season and dished out a pair of assists.

Freshman Juan Meza (Cali, Colombia/Colegio British School) and sophomore Alexander Alleyne (Swampscott, Massachusetts/St. Mary's) also found the back of the net, while senior goalkeeper Jose Silva (Northborough, Massachusetts/Algonquin Regional) registered a five-save shutout.

Stonehill senior netminder Adam Colella (Wilmington, Massachusetts/St. John's Prep) turned aside five of the eight shots that came his way.

Rincon opened the scoring in the 16th minute with the help of assists from senior Henrique Etges (Venancio Aires, Brazil/Colegio Nossa Senhora Aparecida) and sophomore Oscar Zepeda Cagide (Jalisco, Mexico/Tec Milenio).

Meza doubled the home team's lead with a shot from 15 yards out at the 27:16 mark, and Alleyne added another just 1:29 later to give the Warriors a commanding three-score advantage less than 30 minutes into the contest.

Merrimack outshot Stonehill 15-10 in the match, but the Skyhawks held a 7-4 edge in the second half. Stonehill also had five corner kick opportunities to the Warriors' two.

Stonehill (7-5-1, 5-4-0 NE-10) and Merrimack (8-2-2, 4-2-2 NE-10) will both be back in action this Saturday, October 18th. Stonehill is set to host American International College for a 2 p.m. match at Skyhawk Field, while the Warriors will remain at home to take on the University of New Haven at 6 p.m.
