Junior forward Drew Montano had a hand in two of Stonehill's three goals today, as he registered an assist in the 61st minute before finding the back of the net himself in the 70th.

Skyhawks score three times from 60:54 to 69:58 to secure road victory

ALBANY, N.Y. (September 27, 2014) – Stonehill College scored three times in under ten minutes in the second half en route to a 3-1 victory at the College of Saint Rose this afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer action at Sullivan Field.

Junior forward Drew Montano (Avon, Connecticut/Avon), who scored the game-winner in Stonehill's 1-0 victory over rival Bentley on Tuesday, tallied three more points this afternoon on a goal and an assist to fuel the Skyhawks to their second straight triumph.

After over 60 minutes of scoreless action, Montano helped break the deadlock when he delivered the ball to classmate Richard Aprile (Carmel, New York/Kennedy Catholic) inside the 18-yard box. Aprile beat Saint Rose junior goalkeeper Colan Balkwell (Schaghticoke, New York/Hoosic Valley) with a shot to the top right of the net for his second goal of the season.

Two minutes later, senior midfielder Tyler Brondyk (Mansfield, Massachusetts/Mansfield) drove in a deflection from ten yards out to the top corner of the net to stake the Skyhawks to a 2-0 lead.

Montano put the finishing touches on Stonehill's three-goal spurt in the 70th minute, when he deflected in a touch pass from freshman forward Andrew Humphrey (Mansfield, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan).

Senior goalkeeper Adam Colella (Wilmington, Massachusetts/St. John's Prep) was less than two minutes from securing his second shutout in as many starts this season, but Saint Rose junior midfielder Tyler Pomakoy (Stephentown, New York/Berlin) converted a penalty kick opportunity at the 88:17 mark to get the Golden Knights on the board. Colella made four saves in the contest, with two coming in each half.

Balkwell made five saves for the Golden Knights, who outshot Stonehill 17-16 in the contest.

With today's win, Stonehill has matched its win total from a season ago, and is now one NE-10 victory shy of matching its conference total from 2013. The Skyhawks finished 5-10-1 last fall, including 4-8-1 in league play.

Stonehill (5-2-1, 3-1-0 NE-10) will face a big test in its next contest, as the Skyhawks are set to travel to Manchester, New Hampshire on Tuesday night to take on top-ranked, defending NCAA DII Champion Southern New Hampshire University. Saint Rose (1-5-1, 1-3-0 NE-10) will be back in action on Tuesday night as well, when the Golden Knights are set to head to Albany to face in-state rival Adelphi University.
