Sophomore Josh Bankert was presented with the Fred C. Petti individual award last season for having the highest combined GPA for the 2012-13 academic year.

Skyhawks post team grade point average of 3.19

EASTON, Mass. (February 4, 2014) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team has earned a Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2012-13 academic year. Stonehill was one of 274 collegiate men's soccer programs to be recognized by the NSCAA.

A total of 15 student-athletes from Stonehill's 2012 men's soccer squad were named to the Fall 2012 Athletic Director's Honor Roll for earning a semester GPA of 3.20 or better, while 16 players landed on the Spring 2013 Honor Roll. As a team, Stonehill posted a GPA of 3.17 during the fall semester and 3.21 for the spring semester, for an average of 3.19 during the 2012-13 academic year.

Sophomore back Joshua Bankert (Cuttingsville, Vt./Mill River Union) headlined the list by earning a perfect 4.0 GPA for both semesters, while three other players posted a GPA of 3.75 or higher for at least one semester. Bankert was the recipient of Stonehill's 2012-13 Fred C. Petti individual award, which is presented to one male and one female student-athlete each year with the highest combined GPA for the fall and spring semester.

Stonehill finished the 2012 campaign with a 5-11-1 record overall, and a 4-9 mark in Northeast-10 play. The Skyhawks ended their season on a three-match winning streak, including a 2-0 shutout against UMass Lowell on Senior Day.
