Skyhawks lose fourth straight conference contest

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 5, 2013) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team fell behind early and was unable to regroup, losing 2-0 tonight to host Southern Connecticut State University in a Northeast-10 matchup  at Jess Dow Field.

Stonehill was put in an early hole when Southern Connecticut sophomore forward Daquan King (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) beat Stonehill goalkeeper Adam Colella (Wilmington, Mass./St. John's Prep) on an assist from sophomore defender Jonas Folstad (Trondheim, Norway/KVT/Norwegian Univ. of Science & Techonolgy) in the seventh minute.

The Owls doubled their advantage a little over twenty minutes later, as Southern Connecticut freshman forward Kevin Joslyn (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) found senior midfielder Ross McGibney (Dublin, Ireland/Staples/Quinnipiac) at the 28:42 mark.

Southern Connecticut would not relinquish that lead, as junior goalkeeper Stephen Sasso (Orange, Conn./Amity) kept Stonehill off the scoreboard with a four-save shutout. His counterpart, Colella, made eleven saves in the Stonehill loss.

Stonehill (3-6-0, 2-4-0 NE-10) will next be in action on Tuesday night at Franklin Pierce University, before returning home for a match next Saturday with the University of New Haven.
