Brassard, Hope And Hugel Selected To Play In NEISL All-Star Game

EASTON, Mass. (November 19, 2012) – Stonehill College seniors Kristopher Brassard (Barre, Vt./Tilton School), Jonathan Hope (Avon, Conn./Avon) and Stephen Hugel (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) have been selected to participate in the 2012 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star Game. The top seniors from NCAA Division I and II teams in New England will face off on Sunday, November 25 at 1 p.m. at Harvard University.

Brassard has not missed a game for the Skyhawks since his freshman season making 53-straight starts to close out his collegiate career at Stonehill. Brassard was key to a Skyhawks backline that recorded a 1.50 goals against average in conference play in 2011. Brassard has also recorded three assists for three points total, all from the backfield in his career. Overall in his four years at the College, the Skyhawks have allowed 1.57 goals against average to opposing teams.

Hope, who has appeared in 64 games total over his career (42 starts), finished third overall on the team in points this season with seven on three goals and one assist. Hope netted the game-winning goal in his final collegiate game against UMass Lowell on October 26 on "Senior Day." Overall at Stonehill, Hope has compiled five goals and two assists for 12 points.

Hugel rounds out the list of Skyhawks who will appear in the NEISL All-Star Game on Sunday at Harvard University. Hugel appeared in 52 games total in his career at Stonehill making 31 starts during that span. In 2011, Hugel scored his first career goal against Saint Thomas Aquinas College with one second remaining in the second half to force overtime. Hugel, who has made the majority of his appearances in a Stonehill uniform on the backline, also has one assist to his credit in his career. Academically, Hugel excelled in the classroom earning multiple selections to the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Commissioner's and Athletic Directors Honor Rolls at the College.

This group of seniors guided Stonehill to 29 wins overall and 19 victories in conference play. The Skyhawks also made two appearances in the NE-10 Tournament during that span. Last season, Stonehill collected seven wins in conference games tying its program record in that category.

The Skyhawks ended their 2012 season with a 5-11-1 record overall and 4-9-0 in the NE-10. Stonehill will enter its 2013 campaign on a three-game winning streak.
