EASTON, Mass. (October 26, 2012) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team earned a 2-0 shutout victory over UMass Lowell in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Friday evening at Skyhawk Field on "Senior Day."

Prior to the game, seniors Kristopher Brassard (Barre, Vt./Tilton School (N.H.)), Michael Deneault (Northbridge, Mass./Northbridge), Jonathan Hope (Avon, Conn./Avon), Kevin Wendth (Slingerlands, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) and Stephen Hugel (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) were all honored for their contributions towards the Stonehill College men's soccer program.

Hope helped make "Senior Day" a memorable one for himself and his four fellow classmates netting the game-winning goal in the 31st minute of the contest. Hope deposited his third goal of the season into the lower right corner of the net after he received a through ball from teammate Kevin Gilmartin (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock) just outside the box. Freshman forward Drew Montano (Avon, Conn./Avon) was also credited with an assist for his quick one-touch pass to Gilmartin from the right flank.

Moments later at the 33:57 mark, freshman back Evan Devanny (Concord, N.H./Concord) provided the insurance tally for the Skyhawks as he buried sophomore midfielder Will Miller's (El Dorado Hills, Calif./Shoreham-Wading River) rebound into the back of the net for his second goal of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Adam Colella (Wilmington, Mass./St. John's Prep.) turned aside six shots in the game to record his second shutout of the season, fifth career. River Hawks junior goalkeeper Christopher Maierle (Wantagh, N.Y./Friends Academy) made three saves.

UMass Lowell held a 20-6 shot advantage and won the corners matchup, 7-2.

Stonehill concludes its season at 5-11-1 overall and 4-9-0 in the NE-10. UMass Lowell (12-4-1, 10-3-0 NE-10) advances to NE-10 Tournament play on Monday, October 29 with an opponent to be determined later. The River Hawks will host the NE-10 quarterfinal matchup at 7 p.m.
