Skyhawks Down Saint Anselm, 3-1, For Third-Straight Win

MANCHESTER, N.H. (October 25, 2011) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team earned in its third-straight victory on Tuesday night posting a 3-1 triumph over Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action at Grappone Stadium.

Senior forward Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional) scored a hat-trick to lift the Skyhawks to 10-7 overall and 7-5 overall in the NE-10. Stonehill clinches its first winning season since 1997 when the Skyhawks went 9-8-1 overall on the year. The Skyhawks have also tied the program record for conference wins this fall which was set in 1990 (7-1-1).

Stonehill has a chance to break that mark with one NE-10 game remaining on the schedule against UMass Lowell on Friday, October 28 on the road at 7 p.m.

Senior midfielder/back Justin Colella (Wilmington, Mass./St. John's Prep.) tallied the Hawks lone goal of the contest beating his younger brother and Skyhawks goalkeeper Adam Colella (Wilmington, Mass./St. John's Prep.) on a penalty kick at 68:10 for his first goal this season.

A. Colella turned away five shots on net to improve to 9-5-0 overall while Moriarty stopped three shots for Saint Anselm.

White opened up the scoring at 16:54 striking home a passed headed inside the box by teammate Mark Bolster (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) past Saint Anselm goalkeeper Eric Moriarty (Center Harbor, N.H./Moultonborough Academy) for a 1-0 advantage and his eighth marker of the season.

Junior forward/midfielder Anthony Campagnano (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland) set up the Skyhawks second goal of the contest at 33:03 feeding White with a through ball for a clear breakaway chance which was buried into the right corner of the net for a 2-0 advantage.

White completed his natural hat-trick at 52:38 finishing on a one-touch pass from Bolster for his team-leading 10th goal of the season.

Saint Anselm outshot Stonehill, 16-13, and won the corners matchup 4-0.

The Hawks (6-9-2, 3-8-1 NE-10) return to action on Friday, October 28 as they host New Haven in their regular season finale at 3 p.m.
