McWilliams scores third goal of season in second half to lift Skyhawks

EASTON, Mass. (October 1, 2011) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team earned a 1-0 triumph over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Saturday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.

Senior midfielder Ross McWilliams (Kingston, R.I./South Kingstown) put the Skyhawks ahead 1-0 at 54:24 gathering a loose ball in the box and roofing into the top right corner of the net past Purple Knights goalkeeper Logan Kingman (New Bern, N.C./New Bern) for the eventual game-winner and his third marker of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Adam Colella (Wilmington, Mass./St. John's Prep.) notched his second shutout of the season making one save on the afternoon. Kingman kept Saint Michael's in the contest turning away eight shots with five coming in the first half.

Stonehill outshot the Purple Knights, 15-9, and won the corners matchup 4-2.

The Skyhawks (5-5, 3-3 NE-10) return to action on Wednesday, October 5 against American International College, on the road, for a 7 p.m. start. Saint Michael's (3-5-2, 1-4-1) travels to UMass Lowell on Wednesday for an identical start.
