at right back, recording two shots from the back line. Part of a
defense which posted a team goals against average of 1.21 (0.43
better than 2009's mark), and ranked seventh in the NE-10 with six
shutouts. During the final week of the regular season, the Skyhawk
defense held opponents to just five shots on goal in posting three
straight shutouts to clinch a postseason berth.
2009: Played in 11 games for Stonehill, making
three starts. Recorded three shots on the season.
2008: Played 16 matches, starting 14. Scored his first career goal in 5-2 win over Mercy (9/30). Part of a defensive unit which ranked ninth in the NE-10 with four shutouts.
2007: Appeared in
16 matches as a freshman, including two starts.
Made first career start against American International
(10/13).
High School: 2007 honors graduate of Daniel Hand
High School. Multiple letterwinner, serving as team captain as a
senior. Earned All-State and All-Conference honors. Voted team
MVP. Also lettered in indoor and outdoor track, serving as
captain of both as a senior. Named All-Area in Track. Awarded
Southern Connecticut Scholar of the Month honors. National
Honor Society member. Played for Guilford Soccer Club.

Son of Richard and Jeanne Bates of Madison, Conn. Majoring in
marketing. Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity. Supports Chelsea
FC. Lists Kevin Youkilis as a favorite athlete.
