WINCHENDON, Massachusetts (November 9, 2019) – The Stonehill College ice hockey team played in its second overtime game of the season as Franklin Pierce University earned their first Northeast-10 Conference victory with a 4-3 win Saturday night at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

By the Numbers:

  • Stonehill's (1-2-0, 0-2-0 NE10) Brendan Nehmer, Mike Seoane, and Ryan Meade scored the goals. Kayser Raei, Seoane, Zachary Frament, and Sean Conley tallied the assists.
  • In his eighth game of his career, Matthew Schoen recorded 29 saves in the game
  • For Franklin Pierce (1-2-0, 1-1-0 NE10), Alex Lester scored two goals, while Jason Ladzinski and Chris Stevenson each notched a tally. Stevenson put in the game winner in the Ravens' overtime game of the season.
  • Kyle Martin stopped 17 shots between the pipes.
  • The Ravens outshot the Skyhawks 36-20, as Stonehill capitalized on one of three power play opportunities and Franklin Pierce was successful on four of five power plays.

How It Happened:

  • In the first period, both teams played tight defense as the Ravens tallied six shots to the Skyhawks' four. Stonehill also was called for two penalties, but they killed the power plays and were able to find the back of the cage at 19:37. Seoane sent the puck down ice as Nehmer was on a breakaway down the left wing and the freshman sent a snap shot from the middle of the left circle for a 1-0 lead.
  • On the Skyhawks' third penalty of the game, the Ravens put together four shots in less than a minute span, and the fourth shot tied the game at one, 1-1. Lester banged home his own rebound at 7:05.

Stonehill capitalized on a five-on-three opportunity with Seoane tipping a shot out front with help from Frament and Conley at 14:52 for his second goal of the season and third goal of his career, 2-1.
  • A minute into the third period, Meade extended the Skyhawks' lead to two, 3-1, as they rushed into the offensive end and Raei dished it to the senior for a one-timer.
  • The Ravens put away two goals in less than four minutes late in the third period to tie the game at three, 3-3. Both goals were power play goals off a major called on the Skyhawks.
  • After the initial faceoff in overtime, Stonehill sent three shots at the cage, and at 47-seconds the Skyhawks were called for their seventh infraction. The Ravens then capitalized on a five on four as Gorbett set up to the right of the cage sending the puck to Stevenson for a slap shot and the game-winning goal, 4-3.
