Northeast 10 Men's Ice Hockey Report: Week 1

EASTON, Mass. (November 4, 2019) – Stonehill College men's ice hockey junior forward Kayser Raei was named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, as announce by the league on Monday afternoon.

The junior tallied three points in the home opener, with two goals and an assist to match his career high in points, that he registered last season against Post University when the Skyhawks won 8-3 where he registered three assists.

The Boston, Massachusetts native assisted the Skyhawks to a 4-3 overtime victory to kick off the season in a non-conference battle against UMass Dartmouth on Saturday. Stonehill scored the first goal of the game in the games' first power play opportunity as senior Cameron Wright found the back of the cage and Raei picked up his first assist of the season and sixth of his career. With a 2-1 lead heading into the third period, Raei made it 3-1 with his first goal of the season and seventh of his career at 3:46 in the third.

The Corsairs then bounced back and scored two goals in four minutes to tie the game for the second time, 3-3. At 4:12 in overtime, Raei was left wide open after a hit on the left side of the zone and he put it in for his second game-winning goal of his career to secure a 4-3 overtime win.

Stonehill (1-0-0) hosts Assumption College on Friday, November 8 opening NE10 play with a puck drop at 7:00 p.m. at Foxboro Sports Center. The Skyhawks follow that game with a game at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon, Massachusetts as they battle Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, November 9 with a start time of 7:00 p.m.
