Collier tallies his 23rd assist of his career

WINCHENDON, Massachusetts (February 12, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey concluded Northeast-10 Conference play this season with a 3-1 loss to Franklin Pierce University Tuesday afternoon at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.  

For the Skyhawks (8-15-1, 3-11-1 NE10) Jack Scannell scored his fifth goal of the season and 11th of his career, as James Varney and Connor Collier chipped in assists. Varney registered his first assist of the season and fifth of his career, while Collier totaled his eight helper of the season and 23 in his career.

The first period was rather quiet, as the Skyhawks saw a 9-5 shot advantage and were unable to capitalize on two power play opportunities after a total of seven in the two penalties.

Late in the second period, the Skyhawks saw an initial shots by Collier and Varney, there was a scramble for the rebound that Scannell grabbed and was able to stuff the dish past the crease inside the right post for a 1-0 lead at 11:53. Franklin Pierce saw their third power play opportunity starting at 13:29, and the Ravens sent two shots wide and one saved before Nate Indelicato was able to deflect the puck between the pads scoring the equalizer at 14:52, 1-1. At 15:42, the Ravens were called for their fourth penalty, but Indelicato assisted in a short-handed rush, crashing the left post for a one-goal lead, 2-1 at 16:19. Stonehill continued to see the shot advantage in the second frame tallying 13 shots to Franklin Pierce's 11 shots.

Stonehill continued to hold their ground against the Ravens as they looked to get another goal, but Franklin Pierce picked up another tally at 7:34. Indelicato saw his third goal of the game with a strike from the right circle to extend their lead to two, 3-1. Franklin Pierce was called for three penalties, while Stonehill totaled two in the third frame, but neither capitalized on a man advantage.

Stonehill concludes its season with two games against Bryn Athyn College on Friday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 16 at 3:00 p.m. in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania at the Junge Ice Hockey Rink.
