FOXBORO, Massachusetts (February 9, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team fell to Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern New Hampshire University, 4-0, in its final home game of the season at Foxboro Sports Center on Saturday night.

The Penmen opened up the game with three goals in the first period, including two power play goals. Southern New Hampshire was called for the first penalty of the game at 5:39, but the Skyhawks were unable to get past the Penmen's defense as six shots got through in the two minutes. Soon after, the Skyhawks saw their first penalty and after trying to clear the puck out of their defensive zone, the Penmen picked up the loose puck and saw Chris Moquin lift it up past Billy Palmer for a 1-0 lead at 9:05. A few minutes later, Southern New Hampshire extended their lead to two, 2-0, with a punch in by Brett Strawn at 15:15, with assists from Jake Cox and Moquin. Roughly three minutes later, the Penmen saw another power play opportunity. Cole Stewart drove the puck into their offensive zone and skated it around the cage dishing it to Max Kent who sent a one timer at the cage giving Stewart the opportunity to tip it in for a three-goal lead, 3-0, at 18:47. The Skyhawk's 21-10 shot advantage in the first wasn't enough to put them on top, as the Penmen saw two power play opportunities and capitalized on them.

In the second period, roles were reversed and the Penmen saw a 22-11 shot advantage. Southern New Hampshire was able to add to their three-goal lead with a rebound goal by Phil Heisse at 13:41 as Zack Ciampa and Moquin assisted after an initial shot by Moquin that went left after bouncing off Palmer's pad, 4-0.

Shots were minimalized in the third period as Southern New Hampshire totaled nine to Stonehill's eight. The Penmen contained the Skyhawks to their defensive zone for most of the frame as they looked to hold on for their second shutout of the season.

Stonehill will play Franklin Pierce University for their final Conference game of the season on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon, Massachusetts.
