Skyhawks honor three seniors prior to season finale

Paquette saw his first victory with a career-high 46 saves

FOXBORO, Mass. (February 13, 2018) – The Stonehill College ice hockey team wrapped up its season on Tuesday night at the Foxboro Sports Center with a 5-2 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference play.  

Prior to the game, Stonehill honored its three seniors including Austin Goldstein (Parkland, Florida/Hebron Academy), Brendan White (North Reading, Massachusetts/Kimball Union Academy), and Connor Tedesco (Winchester, Massachusetts/Proctor Academy).

Stonehill (7-16-2, 5-9-1 NE10) saw four goal scorers in the win, including two tallies from Jack Hall (Shelburne, Vermont/Proctor Academy) and one from Cameron Wright (West Dummerston, Vermont/Springfield Pics – USPHL Premier), Nick Schofield (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Williston Northampton), and Nicholas Godin (New London, New Hampshire/Tabor Academy). White and Christopher Page (Winthrop, Massachusetts/Winthrop) each chipped in two assists, while Connor Collier (Madison, New Jersey/New Jersey Hitmen - USPHL), Godin, and Shamus Maloney (North Attleboro, Massachusetts/Neponset River Valley Rats) notched one helper each. Junior goaltender Kyle Paquette (Tewksbury, Massachusetts/Neponset Valley River Rats) recorded a career-high 46 saves in his first victory of his career.

Franklin Pierce University (6-17-1, 2-10-1 NE10) saw Cameron Shepardson and Nate Indelicato register the two goals for the Ravens. Jack Williams and Jonathan Haun recorded the assists, while goaltender Ian Wallace stopped 37 shots.

Neither team jumped on board until Schofield found the back of the net with his fourth goal of the season with 40 seconds left in the first period, 1-0. The freshman took the puck up the right side of the ice after taking the dish away from the Ravens and crashed the cage putting the Skyhawks on the board, even though Franklin Pierce held a 17-10 shot advantage. The Ravens also had two opportunities in the opening frame for power play goals, but Stonehill's defense held strong and killed both penalties.

Hall tallied his second game this season with two goals

Immediately following Stonehill's first power play of the game, Godin tallied his second goal of the season at 2:20 in the second period with helpers from Page and Collier. Wright extended the Skyhawks' lead to three, 3-0, at 15:59 with his fourth goal of the season, as Godin and White registered the assists.

Franklin Pierce wouldn't let Stonehill finish with a shutout, as Shepardson found the back of the cage with a power play goal 49 seconds into the third period from Williams. Hall responded at 5:05 with his own power play goal to put the lead back to three, 4-1. About two minutes later, Hall extended the lead to four, 5-1, at 7:57 with his sixth goal of the season with assists from Page and White. Another two minutes later, at 11:11, Indelicato cut the deficit back to three, 5-2, as his shot broke the plane, as Paquette caught the puck behind his back unable to stopping the slapshot. Stonehill held its first shot advantage, 15-12, in the final frame taking the victory with 42 shots total.

The Skyhawks concluded their season with an overall record of 7-16-2 and 5-9-1 in the NE10 Conference, placing fifth overall.
