BOSTON, Mass. (January 13, 2018) – The Stonehill College ice hockey team fell to Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Anselm College in a 3-0 decision Saturday night at the Warrior Ice Arena in game two of the three-game series.

Stonehill (4-10-1, 2-4-1 NE10) saw Billy Palmer (Cranston, Rhode Island/Boston Bandits-EHL Premier) save 22 shots in the battle, while Conor Cassidy (Wilmington, Delaware/Canterbury and Kents Hill) and Sean Conley (Cheektowaga, New York/Buffalo Jr Sabres-TIEHL) took four shots each. Cameron Wright (West Dummerston, Vermont/Springfield Pics - USPHL Premier) also won 15 of the 20 faceoffs.

Saint Anselm (7-7-1, 4-2-0 NE10) saw Jeremy Carignan, Bryan Green, and Mike Ferraro tally the goals for the Hawks, while Jon Pallotta, Liam Sullivan and Trey Aiello notched the assists. Shane Joyce notched 32 saves in the victory.

The Hawks wasted no time jumping on the board in the first period, as Carignan was able to take the puck down the ice putting Saint Anselm up 1-0 at 6:05 for an unassisted tally. Green later ripped the puck to the back of the cage on a power play opportunity at 14:12, as Pallotta and O'Sullivan recorded the helpers. Stonehill's 10-8 shot advantage wasn't much help, as the Hawks capitalized on one of two power plays in the frame.

Saint Michael's wasn't done, as Ferraro added in another goal for the weekend, putting his total to three at 4:57 in the second period for a 3-0 lead. Aiello also tallied his third point of the weekend with a helper to Ferrero's goal. The Skyhawks once again took the shot advantage, 13-10, in the period, as Stonehill was short handed for 10 minutes, while Saint Anselm was down a player for five minutes.

Neither team was once again able to benefit from power plays in the final period, as Stonehill saw two power plays to Saint Anselm's one. The Skyhawks once again had a 9-7 shot advantage, bringing the total to 32-25 shots, in favor of Stonehill.

The Skyhawks travel to South Burlington, Vermont for the second and third games of the three-game series against Saint Michael's College starting on Friday, January 20 with a puck drop at 4:00 p.m. at Cairns Arena.
