Schoen records his first-career victory as a Skyhawk

Northeast 10 Men's Ice Hockey Report: Week 5

EASTON, Mass. (December 5, 2017) – Stonehill College's men's ice hockey sophomore Matthew Schoen (Tolland, Connecticut/Phillips Academy) was named Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday morning.

Schoen, appearing and starting in his first game as a Skyhawk picked up his first victory after defeating Post University, 4-1, on Tuesday, November 28. The sophomore tallied 38 saves, averaging a .974 save percentage skating in his first start. He allowed only one goal in the game, putting his goal against average at 1.00 for his career.

The sophomore was named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll last year.  

Schoen is a 2016 graduate of Phillips Academy where he competed in ice hockey and lacrosse. During his junior and senior seasons he was voted to the All-State Hockey Team.

Stonehill hosts NE10 Conference foe Saint Michael's College Tuesday, December 5 for its Purple and White Game at the Foxboro Sports Center for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
