EASTON, Mass. (February 14, 2017) – Stonehill College men's ice hockey sophomore goaltender Billy Palmer (Cranston, R.I./Boston Bandits-EHL Premier) picked up his second Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week award after a 1-1 week for the Skyhawks, as announced by the league on Monday.

Palmer held a 3.05 goals against average this week as the team lost to UMass Dartmouth, 3-2, and defeated NE10 conference foe Southern New Hampshire University, 8-0. The sophomore picked up his first-career shutout against the Penmen. It was also the first shutout since the 2014-15 season for the Skyhawks. Palmer recorded 69 combined saves and a 0.964 save percentage in the .500 week.

Sophomore goaltender Palmer registered his first NE10 accolade of the season after leading the Skyhawks to a perfect 2-0 week, its second time this year. Palmer combined for 72 saves in the victories over Southern New Hampshire University and Franklin Pierce University for a .973 save percentage. The Cranston, Rhode Island native also held both opponents to one goal apiece.

Palmer ranks third in the NE10 in goals against average (3.26) and winning percentage (.440). In the 43 games played over his two years in net, the sophomore has averaged a 3.07 goals against average and 1,341 saves for an overall record of 19-16-7.

As a freshman, Palmer led the Skyhawks to its second NE10 championship, while also being named NE10 Rookie of the Year and selected to the NE10 All-Conference second team.

The third-seeded Stonehill (9-13-4, 6-4-1 NE10) is scheduled to face the second-seeded Saint Michael's College (8-15-2, 4-1-0 NE10) on Saturday, February 18 in a 4 p.m. semifinal NE10 Tournament game at Cairns Arena in South Burlington, Vermont.
