Hall tallied his first three-point game
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (January 31, 2017) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team scored in each of the three periods, but was unable to surpass Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Michael's College in a 6-4 loss Tuesday night at Foxboro Sports Center.
The loss for the Skyhawks puts them at 8-12-3 overall and 5-4-0 in the NE10. Conor Cassidy (Wilmington, Del./Canterbury and Kents Hill), Jack Hall (Shelburne, Vt./Proctor Academy), Tommy Newton (Hollis, N.H./Portland Pirates-USPHL Premier), and Zachary Frament (Concord, N.H./Tilton School) found the back of the cage for the Skyhawks.Saint Michael's improves to 8-12-2 overall and 4-1-0 in conference play, as Patrick Doherty scored two goals and Anthony Maiuri, John Barry, Sam D'Antuono, and Justin McKenzie contributed one a piece.

The Skyhawks opened up the game with the first goal 1:08 into the first period, as Cassidy came up the center crashing the cage and slipping the puck into the slot off of passes from Hall and Newton for his 11th of the season.
Saint Michael's quickly responded, as the Purple Knights registered two goals in 14 seconds. The first, at 3:47, came from an unassisted goal by Maiuri as he collected the puck after a scramble from a faceoff. The second was Doherty's first goal of the game with an assist from D'Antuono.
The Purple Knights persisted as six minutes later, at 9:51, John Barry capitalized on a man-advantage power play, as D'Antuono and Danny Divis dished the puck to the freshman.
Hall cut the deficit to one, 3-2, but Saint Michaels' McKenzie and D'Antuono extended the lead to three, 5-2, to close out the first frame.
The second period was much quieter as both teams held each other to one goal apiece. Both teams also had a power play opportunity in the frame, but Stonehill was only able to capitalize as Newton tallied his third goal of the season at 12:03. The Purple Knights' Doherty stretched the lead to four at 7:52 before Newton matched him.
Stonehill went on a six-straight shot attempt before Saint Michael's would take control of the puck and get off one shot. As the Skyhawks persisted, Frament recorded his third goal of the season at 9:14 in the third in an unassisted tally, cutting the deficit back to two, 6-4. Stonehill was able to keep possession of the puck for the final three minutes of the game, as it pulled its goaltender and denied the Purple Knights the dish.
Stonehill returns to action on Saturday, February 4, as it travels to Worcester, Massachusetts for its third game of a three-game NE10 series against Assumption College. The 6:35 p.m. contest is the decider, as the series is tied, 1-1.
