Cassidy and Collier recorded the only goals for the Skyhawks
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (January 19, 2017) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team dropped a non-conference matchup to UMass Dartmouth, 6-2, Thursday night at the Foxboro Sports Center.

The loss for the Skyhawks puts them at 6-11-3 overall, as goalkeepers Billy Palmer (Cranston, R.I./Boston Bandits-EHL Premier) and Kyle Paquette (Tewksbury, Mass./Neponset Valley River Rats) combined for 36 saves. Both Conor Cassidy (Wilmington, Del./Canterbury and Kents Hill) and Connor Collier (Madison, N.J./New Jersey Hitmen-USPHL) found the back of the cage for the Skyhawks.
UMass Dartmouth (10-5-0) Brendon Berkley and Mike Kelly record two goals apiece, as Matt Baldino and Jay Clarke tallied one each.
The Corsairs opened up scoring at 13:41 in the first period as Baldino connected on a power play opportunity for his ninth goal of the season immediately after one-of-two Skyhawk penalties were killed. After three-straight face-offs, Cassidy crashed the cage and found the back of the net for his eighth of the season at 14:36.
Twenty seconds later, Berkley tallied his first of the game after a faceoff at center ice. The Corsairs then recorded two more goals, one from Clarke and one from Kelly within five minutes of their previous 2-1 lead, opening up the game by three, 4-1, by the end of the first.
UMass Dartmouth dominated the second period, as it held a 21-7 shot advantage. Berkley picked up his second of the game at 14:35 and then Kelly recorded his fifth goal of the season on a power play at 19:33 extending the Corsairs' lead to five, 6-1.
The third period remained quiet, as the Corsairs still held the shot advantage, 13-7. But, Stonehill was able to capitalize on UMass Dartmouth's fourth penalty as Collier sat on the outside of the zone and slapped the puck to the back of the cage for his third of the season at 11:14.
Stonehill returns to action on Wednesday, January 25 as it travels to Hooksett, N.H. to take on Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern New Hampshire University for a 7:30 pm puck drop. The Skyhawks aim to take the best of three series after a 3-2 victory November 7.
