Palmer and Paquette total 19 saves
WORCESTER, Mass. (December 8, 2016) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team dropped a non-conference battle against Worcester State University, 5-0, Thursday night at the Hart Recreation Center.
For Stonehill, (3-6-2) Billy Palmer (Cranston, R.I./Boston Bandits –EHL Premier) recorded 12 saves, as Kyle Paquette (Tewksbury, Mass. Neponset Valley River Rats) tallied seven in the loss.

Worcester State (3-6-2) saw five different goal scorers including Mike Palmer, Andy DeAngelis, Alex DeWitz, Jeff Pierson, and Kyle Griffin record the tallies for the Lancers.
The Lancers came out with fire as they recorded three goals in the first period, but both teams were able to get off 10 shots apiece. In the early minutes of the game, Stonehill won the third faceoff of the game, but the Lancers got the puck back and took it to their offensive third. Mike Palmer collected his rebound from his initial shot and found the back of the cage at 2:31, for a 1-0 lead.
As the game went back and forth for the next 12 minutes, the Skyhawks were able to kill two penalties. But the Lancers recorded a second goal at 14:32, as Stephen Zabrowski found DeAngelis open for a slapshot, 2-0. Worcester State had enough time for one more goal in the first period, as Evan Sterling dished the puck off to DeWitz at 18:40 in the first period, putting the Lancers up 3-0.
Stonehill held a slight 7-6 shot advantage in the second period, but Worcester State was able to extend its lead to four, 4-0, with a power play goal at the 13:25 mark. Nick Patulla and Kyle Griffen recorded the assists as Pierson picked up his third goal of the season.
The Skyhawks defense came up short in the final seconds of the game, as the Lancer's registered their second power play goal of the night. Palmer sent the puck to Griffen after his initial shot was blocked. Griffen recorded his third goal of the season at 19:29, giving Worcester State its second shutout of the year.
Stonehill completes its 2016 schedule with back-to-back home games, its first on Saturday, December 10 with a 4:10 p.m. puck drop versus non-conference foe Wesleyan University at the Foxboro Sports Center.
