EASTON, Mass. (November 29, 2016) – Stonehill College men's ice hockey senior Evan Jacques (Norton, Mass./South Shore Kings - EJHL) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Player of the Week for the first time this season, the league office announced Monday.

The Skyhawks fell behind 2-0 against Suffolk University on Tuesday, November 22, but cut the deficit to one as senior Brian Higgins (Milton, Mass./Milton) picked up his first power play goals of the season in the second period. Jacques and freshman Cameron Wright (West Dummerston, Vt./Springfield Pics – USPHL Premier) assisted in Higgins' first goal of the season. The Rams scored its third goal three minutes after the Skyhawks', giving them another two-goal lead at the end of the second period, 3-1.

Stonehill fought back in the third with two unanswered goals. One came from Ryan Smith (Arlington, Mass./Tilton School), while the other came from Jacques who recorded his sixth goal of the season, ninth of his career. This was the second two-point game for the senior, who now ranks first in goal scoring (6), fourth in power play goals (2) and ninth in point scoring (0.88 per game) in the conference.

Stonehill (3-3-2, 1-2-0 NE10) is back in action on Thursday, December 1 as it hosts Westfield State University in a non-conference battle with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop at Foxboro Sports Center.
