Franklin Pierce Blanks Ice Hockey, 3-0

Skyhawks drop third conference battle in a shutout

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (November 19, 2016) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team dropped its third Northeast-10 Conference game to Franklin Pierce University in a 3-0 shutout Saturday night at Foxboro Sports Center.

For Stonehill, (3-3-1, 1-2-0 NE-10) Billy Palmer (Cranston, R.I./Boston Bandits-EHL Premier) tallied 22 saves in the loss as the team also killed six power plays.

Franklin Pierce (5-2-0, 2-1-0 NE-10) saw Matthew Toombs, Jonathan Haun, and Alex Lester tally the goals, as Blaise Kilroy, Jack Williams and Nate Indelicato recorded assists in the victory.

Stonehill opened up the first period with a 13-5 shot advantage over Franklin Pierce, but the Ravens were able to squeeze in a goal at 7:25 as Toombs found the left upper 90 after a pass from Kilroy, immediately following a power play opportunity for the Skyhawks.

Franklin Pierce bounced back in the second period recording 12 shots on goal to Stonehill's six. With 17:33 remaining in the period, the Ravens gave up another power play opportunity as the Skyhawks killed its penalty. Indelicato and Williams dished the puck up the ice to find Haun as he registered his third goal of the season.

Stonehill edged Franklin Pierce once more in shots, 15-8, but the Ravens would capitalize on an empty net opportunity. The Skyhawks pulled Palmer with 3:17 remaining in the game, and contained the Ravens with the extra-man opportunity until Lester blocked a shot by Stonehill and then took the puck down the ice putting it in the back of the cage, extending the lead to three.

Stonehill travels to Boston, Mass. as it competes in a non-conference battle against Suffolk University with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop in Steriti Memorial Rink.
