Ice Hockey Cruises to 7-1 Win Over Framingham State

Scannell, Frament and Page tally their first-collegiate goals

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (November 12, 2016) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team sailed to a 7-1 victory over Framingham State University in a non-conference matchup Saturday night at Foxboro Sports Center.

Stonehill (3-1-1, 1-0-0 NE-10) sophomore Christopher Page (Winthrop, Mass./Winthrop) and freshmen Jack Scannell (Medfield, Mass./Proctor Academy) and Zachary Frament (Concord, N.H./Tilton, School) record their first collegiate goals. Page, Connor Collier (Madison, N.J./New Jersey Hitmen - USPHL), Evan Jacques (Norton, Mass./South Shore Kings - EJHL) and Frament picked up two-point games, as Page chipped in a goal and an assist, Collier recorded two assists, Jacques registered two goals, and Frament notched a goal and an assist. Cameron Wright (West Dummerston, Vt./Vermont Academy) and Jack Hall (Shelburne, Vt./Proctor Academy) both picked up their second-career goals in the victory.

Framingham State (1-3-0) saw Keith Barnaby tally the lone goal, as Jack Sartorelli recorded the assist in the second period score.

Stonehill's 33-21 shot advantage throughout the game shined through as a six-goal differential has been the largest this season for the Skyhawks. Sophomore goalkeeper Billy Palmer (Cranston, R.I./Boston Bandits – EHL) made 21 saves in his third win this season.

The Skyhawks got off three shots before Wright connected on a pass from Ryan Smith (Arlington, Mass./Tilton School) to pick up his second-career goal at 3:00 in the first period. Scannell found the back of the cage as Frament and Page chipped in for the helpers 54 seconds after the Skyhawks first goal, extending its lead to two.

Stonehill continued pressing as Frament and Jacques tallied goals of their own, with the first at 11:48 and the other at 13:02, respectively. Frament's score came off of a faceoff won by Connor Jewett (Berlin, N.H./Berlin) who picked up the assist, his second of his career. Collier registered his fifth assist, as Jacques collected the pass and notched his third goal of the season, extending the Skyhawks lead to four at the end of the first period.

Stonehill got off four shots in the start of the second period, as Jacques put the Skyhawks up by five, at the conclusion of a power play five minutes into the frame. The Rams were able to record its only goal of the game nine minutes after the Skyhawks' fifth goal. Barnaby found the back of the cage for his first goal of the season, as Jake Sartorelli dished him the pass from the top of the zone. The remaining minutes of the period remained quiet as Stonehill led held a 9-7 shot advantage.

The Skyhawks controlled the puck for most of the third period, as they scored in a shorthanded situation and in a power play opportunity. Page was the go-getter for the sixth goal of the game, as the Skyhawks were shorthanded at 8:14 in the frame. Six minutes later, Stonehill found itself in a man-up situation as Tommy Newton (Hollis N.H./Portland Jr. Pirates – USPHL-Premier) and Connor Tedesco (Winchester, Mass./Proctor Academy) registered their second and fourth assists of the season dumping the puck to Hall for his second goal of the season, extending its lead to six, 7-1.

Stonehill travels to Manchester, N.H. for its next Northeast-10 Conference battle as it faces Saint Anselm College in a 7 p.m. contest.
