Four Student-Athletes Earn NE-10 All-Conference Recognition

EASTON, Mass. (February 19, 2016) – The Stonehill College ice hockey team has placed four student-athletes on the All-Northeast-10 first and second teams as voted on by the league's head coaches, it was announced today.

Senior Garrett White (Wakefield, Massachusetts/Boston Bulldogs) was the lone Skyhawk to earn a spot on the All-NE-10 first team, while senior Thomas DePoalo (Mendham, New Jersey/Morristown Beard School) and sophomore Brendan White (North Reading, Massachusetts/Kimball Union Academy) garnered All-Conference second team recognition. Freshman William Palmer (Cranston, Rhode Island/Boston Bandits) was named NE-10 Rookie of the Year as well as being placed on the second team.

Garrett White, who earns All-NE-10 first team honors for the first time in his career, spearheaded a Stonehill offense that ranked second in the conference with 78 goals (3.12 per game) this winter. He led the team and ranked seventh in the NE-10 with 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists, and recorded multiple points in six contests.

The Wakefield, Massachusetts native turned in a season-high seven-game point streak from January 7th-28th, a stretch in which he tallied nine points on five goals and four assists. White's senior campaign was highlighted by his two goal performance in Stonehill's 5-2 win over Assumption College on January 23rd. Through three seasons with the Skyhawks, He has appeared in 55 career games as a forward, registering 48 points on 23 goals and 25 assists.


Palmer earns NE-10 Rookie of the Year honors after leading all goalies with nine wins.

Brendan White collects his second career All-Conference selection after finishing in the top six of all defenseman in the NE-10 with 10 points on three goals and seven assists this season. The sophomore from North Reading, Massachusetts also anchored a defensive unit that gave up 3.00 goals per game, the second lowest mark in the conference.

Brendan White recorded multiple points in two contests, once against Framingham State University (1/19) and again versus Assumption College (2/6). He scored his first goal of the season against Saint Michael's (11/17), and recorded a three point game against the Greyhounds, dishing out three assists. The 2014-15 NE-10 Conference Rookie of the Year has appeared in 45 career games for the Skyhawks, totaling 18 points on five goals and 13 assists.

DePoalo earns a spot on the second team after a season in which he led Stonehill with ten goals, finishing his senior campaign with 19 points on ten goals and nine assists. He was named NE-10 Player of the Week on February 8th after posting seven points in two games, registering three goals and four assists. DePoalo has appeared in 81 career games, recording 52 points on 28 goals and 24 assists.

Palmer collects Rookie of the Year honors and second team accolades after appearing in 17 games during his freshman season, ranking near or at the top of every major statistical category for goaltenders in the NE-10. He finished second in goals against average (GAA) at 2.74, second in save percentage (.922) and first in winning percentage, posting a record of 9-4-3. The freshman has compiled at least 30 saves in nine separate games this season and 40 saves or more in four contests. Palmer's career-high in saves is 50 which he set against Assumption College (1/23/16) in a 5-2 triumph.

Stonehill, which captured its third consecutive regular season NE-10 title this winter, finished its 2015-16 campaign at 12-9-4, including 7-1-2 in conference play. The Skyhawks earned the top seed in the NE-10 Tournament and will host Assumption on Saturday night at the Foxboro Sports Center.
