Ice Hockey Sweeps NE-10 Weekly Honors

EASTON, Mass. (February 8, 2016) – Stonehill College has swept the Northeast-10 Conference weekly awards for ice hockey following a 2-0-0 week the league office announced this afternoon.

Senior forward Thomas DePoalo (Mendham, New Jersey/ Morristown Beard School) has earned Player of the Week honors from the Northeast-10, while senior goaltender Patrick Farrington (Sandwich, Massachusetts/Bridgton Academy) and freshman netminder William Palmer (Cranston, Rhode Island/Boston Bandits) have been named the NE-10's Goaltender and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their efforts in helping lead Stonehill to two wins last week.

DePoalo, who earns Player of the Week honors for the second time of his career, totaled four points last week with a team-best three goals and an assist. All four of his points came in Stonehill's 6-1 victory over Assumption College on Saturday, where DePoalo registered his second career hat-trick and first of the season while adding an assist.


Palmer

DePoalo has appeared in all 23 games for Stonehill in his senior campaign and leads the team in goals with ten to go with six assists for 16 points. The 16 points are tied for second on the team and ninth in the NE-10 Conference.

Farrington earns Goaltender of the Week honors for the first time this season (first career) after earning the win over Assumption on Saturday. Farrington played the full 60 minutes in-between the pipes and turned away 28 shots in 29 chances to earn a .966 save percentage to go along with a 1.00 goals against average. The senior also held the Greyhounds in check on the power play, where the visitors had a 0-4 showing.

Palmer collects Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time of his career after picking up his conference leading ninth win of the season in Stonehill's 3-2 win over Franklin Pierce on Tuesday. Palmer saved 19 shots on 21 opportunities to record a .905 save percentage.

Palmer has seen the majority of time in the Stonehill goal this season, posting a 9-4-3 record overall, with a 2.85 goals against average and .919 save percentage while averaging 32 saves per game in 947:23 over 16 starts. He is 5-0-1 with a 2.14 GAA and .940 save percentage over six starts in NE-10 games. Palmer ranks second among NE-10 leaders for goals against average, second in save percentage and first in winning percentage.

Stonehill (11-8-4, 7-0-2 NE-10) is back on the ice tomorrow night when they honor their seniors during senior night, before squaring off with UMass Dartmouth in a non-conference clash at the Foxboro Sports Center at 7:00 p.m.
