Palmer Garners NE-10 Rookie of the Week Accolades

Cranston, R.I. native earns fifth-career NE-10 weekly award

EASTON, Mass. (February 1, 2016) – Stonehill College freshman goaltender William Palmer (Cranston, Rhode Island/Boston Bandits) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.

Palmer earned his eighth win of the season during a 1-0-1 week for Stonehill last week. The freshman recorded 39 saves in a 5-2 win over Saint Anselm before turning away 45 shots in a 1-1 tie with Franklin Pierce. On the year Palmer is (8-4-3) with a .920 save percentage and a 2.91 goals against average. This is the fifth time that the Cranston, Rhode Island native has garnered conference recognition this season. He was previously named NE-10 Goaltender of the Week on January 25th following a perfect 3-0 week that saw him stop 91 shots.

Among all goaltenders in the NE-10, Palmer ranks second in goals against average (GAA) at 2.91, second in save percentage (.920) and first in winning percentage. The freshman has compiled at least 30 saves in nine separate games this season and 40 saves or more in four contests. Palmer's career-high in saves is 50 which he set against Assumption College (1/23/16) in a 5-2 triumph.

Stonehill will host Franklin Pierce University in a NE-10 Conference matchup tomorrow night at the Foxboro Sports Center.
