NE-10 Ice Hockey Weekly Report

EASTON, Mass. (January 25, 2016) – Two members of the Stonehill College men's ice hockey team have earned Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) weekly honors, it was announced earlier today. Senior forward Richard Harris (Grand Island, New York/ Valley Jr. Warriors - EJHL) has garnered NE-10 Player of the Week accolades while freshman netminder William Palmer (Cranston, Rhode Island/Boston Bandits - EHL) was tabbed as the NE-10 Goaltender of the Week.

Harris and Palmer helped lead Stonehill to a perfect 3-0-0 record last week, including a pair of wins over NE-10 foes Southern New Hampshire University and Assumption College. With the two conference wins, the Skyhawks push their NE-10 regular season unbeaten streak to 25 games, spanning over three seasons.

Palmer earns Goaltender of the Week honors from the league office for the second time this season and the second time of his early career. The reigning NE-10 Rookie of the week went 3-0 in his three starts last week, posting a 2.33 goals against average and a .933 save percentage while stopping 91 of the 98 shots that came his way.

The freshman netminder opened his week by making 25 saves, including 14 in the second period, in Stonehill's win at Framingham State University on Tuesday. He followed that effort up by turning in a 23-save performance on Thursday night as the Skyhawks defeated Southern New Hampshire, 6-2. The Cranston, Rhode Island native saved his best for last, turning away a career high 50 shots in a 5-2 win over Assumption.

Harris earns the first NE-10 Player of the Week award of his career after spearheading Stonehill's offensive outburst last week with six points on three goals and three assists.

He recorded his second multi-point game of the season in Wednesday's win over Framingham State, assisting on two goals. The senior forward then potted a hat trick as Stonehill picked up a huge win over third place Southern New Hampshire at the Foxboro Sports Center. Harris wrapped up his week with what proved to be the game winning assist in the Skyhawks 5-2 win over Assumption.

Through 19 games this season, Harris is tied for second on the team and 8th in the NE-10 with 13 points on six goals and seven assists. In 82 career games with Stonehill, he has recorded 62 points on 31 goals and 31 assists.

Stonehill (8-8-3, 4-0-1 NE-10) is back in tomorrow tonight, as the Skyhawks host rival Saint Anselm College for their annual Purple & White Game. The puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
