EASTON, Mass. (February 17, 2015) – Stonehill College senior goaltender Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week, the league office announced today.

Tasiopoulos earns this honor for the second consecutive week, fourth time this season, and tenth time in his career after posting a 0.96 goals against average and a .975 save percentage while racking up 77 total stops in 79 opportunities as Stonehill went 1-0-1 last week. His four weekly honors this winter are the most in the conference.

The senior netminder opened his week on Tuesday night with a career-best 48 saves as the Skyhawks skated to a 1-1 tie at Saint Anselm College. Tasiopoulos made 17 saves in the first period, ten in the second, 14 in the third, and seven in overtime, and was less than two minutes away from earning his eighth career shutout before the Hawks equalized late in regulation. His previous career-high of 46 saves also came against Saint Anselm, on February 18th of last season.

Two nights later, Tasiopoulos racked up 29 more saves on 30 shots at Franklin Pierce University as Stonehill posted a 2-1 victory to earn a share of its second consecutive regular season NE-10 title. After giving up a goal at the 14:16 mark of the first period, Tasiopoulos was perfect the rest of the way, turning aside the final 22 shots that he saw in the Skyhawks' one-goal triumph.

Through 22 games this season, Tasiopoulos has appeared in 19 contests, making 18 starts. He leads the NE-10 in goals against average (2.27), save percentage (.927) and winning percentage (.750) and has a record of 12-3-3. In 76 career appearances (75 starts), the Norwell, Massachusetts native is 41-30-4 (.573) with a 2.83 goals against average, a .915 save percentage, and a program-record seven career shutouts.

As a freshman in 2011-12, Tasiopoulos was named NE-10 Rookie of the Year and earned an All-Conference second team selection. As a junior last winter, he turned in one of the best performances by a goalie in program history, leading the NE-10 in goals against average (2.26), save percentage (.931) and winning percentage (.684), while posting a single-season program record of five shutouts. For his efforts, he was named NE-10 Goaltender of the Year to go with his All-Conference first team selection.

Academically, Tasiopoulos has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll all seven of his semesters at Stonehill, and to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll twice.

Stonehill (13-5-4, 7-0-2 NE-10) will wrap up its regular season slate tomorrow night at the Foxboro Sports Center against Franklin Pierce. The Skyhawks, who will end up as the No. 2 seed in the NE-10 Tournament, will host Saint Anselm for a semifinal round contest in Foxboro this Saturday, February 21st at 1:50 p.m.
