Dorgan Named NE-10 Player Of The Week

Junior Robbie Dorgan earned his second career NE-10 Player of the Week award after leading Stonehill with six points in two games last week.

Ossining, N.Y. native totaled six points in a 1-0-1 week for Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. (January 27, 2015) – Stonehill College junior forward Robbie Dorgan (Ossining, New York/Boston Bulldogs) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Player of the Week for men's ice hockey, the league office announced today.

Dorgan was involved in six of Stonehill's ten goals last week (two goals, four assists) as the Skyhawks went 1-0-1 in two games with a 4-4 tie on Wednesday against Western New England University and a 6-2 victory on Sunday at Southern New Hampshire University.

The 2013-14 NE-10 All-Conference first team selection sparked Stonehill's rally from a 4-0 deficit on Wednesday night with his goal in the closing seconds of the second period. With the Skyhawks still trailing by a goal with 1:12 left in the third period, Dorgan and classmate Dan Graham (Billerica, Massachusetts/Williston Northampton) set up Anthony D'Elia (Stamford, Connecticut/Gunnery School) for the equalizer as Stonehill battled all the way back to earn a 4-4 tie.

He then exploded for four points on a goal and three assists on Sunday as the Skyhawks posted a 6-2 victory at Southern New Hampshire to win the season series between the two teams. Dorgan has now been recognized as NE-10 Player of the Week on two occasions in his career following his selection last season on December 2nd. He also collected one Rookie of the Week honor as a freshman in 2012-13 before earning a selection to the NE-10 All-Rookie Team.

With senior Kevin Aufiero's (Canton, Massachusetts/Walpole Express) two awards and junior Kevin Airoldi's (Kennebunk, Maine/Boston Jr. Rangers) nod last week, Stonehill's four NE-10 Players of the Week so far this season are the most in the conference.

Through 17 games this season, Dorgan leads Stonehill and is tied for fourth in the NE-10 with 17 points on six goals and 11 assists. In 61 career games, he has recorded 22 goals and 43 assists for a total of 65 points.

Stonehill (9-4-3, 4-0-1 NE-10) is scheduled to return to action on Thursday night at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
