EASTON, Mass. (December 16, 2014) – Stonehill College senior forward Kevin Aufiero (Canton, Massachusetts/Walpole Express) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for ice hockey, the league office announced this afternoon.

Aufiero, who was recognized by the NE-10 with the first Player of the Week honor of his career on November 25th, led Stonehill to a 3-2 victory at Westfield State University last Wednesday with two points on a goal and an assist.

The Canton, Massachusetts native scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season on a power play opportunity just 1:19 into the second period to stake the Skyhawks to a 2-0 lead over the Owls, before assisting on classmate Garrett White's (Wakefield, Massachusetts/Boston Bulldogs) game-winning tally with 10.7 seconds remaining in the period after Westfield had stormed back to tie the contest with a pair of goals.

Nine games into the 2014-15 campaign, Aufiero leads Stonehill with ten points (T-3rd in NE-10) on six goals and four assists. His total of three game-winning goals is good for first in the conference, while his two power play tallies are tied for fourth. Aufiero is Stonehill's active leader in games played (86), goals (32), and points (69), and he is tied for first with 37 assists.

The senior forward earned his first career NE-10 Player of the Week honor on November 25th after leading the Skyhawks to a 2-0 week with four points on three goals (including two game-winners) and an assist.

A 2010 graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts, Aufiero played ice hockey for the Hawks for three years, earning Catholic Conference All-Star honors as a senior. He went on to play for the Walpole Express of the Eastern Hockey League, winning the President's Cup with the team in 2011.

Stonehill (5-2-2, 3-0-1 NE-10), winners of two straight and unbeaten in its last seven contests since opening the season with a pair of losses, is off until January 8th, when the Skyhawks will return to the Foxboro Sports Center to host Suffolk University.
