EASTON, Mass. (March 4, 2014) – Stonehill College sophomore forward Willy Baker (Suffern, N.Y./Hill School) has been named to the 2014 Northeast-10 Ice Hockey All-Championship Team, it was announced yesterday by the league office.

Baker's goal 3:17 into the first period gave the Skyhawks a 1-0 advantage that they would maintain for most of the game in Stonehill's 2-1 NE-10 Championship semifinal loss to Saint Michael's College on February 22nd. Stonehill kept Saint Michael's off the board until the 6:19 mark in the third period, when freshman defenseman Stephen Inman (Coventry, R.I./Odessa Jackalopes) tied the score for the Purple Knights. Classmate Dan Divis (Media, Pa./The Gunnery) scored the go-ahead tally five minutes later as Saint Michael's dealt Stonehill its first loss since January 13th.

Baker skated in 25 of Stonehill's 26 contests this season, scoring six goals with two assists for a total of eight points. His goal in the NE-10 Championship semifinal was his third tally in as many contests, as he found the back of the net in the first period of Stonehill's 5-4 win over Saint Anselm College on February 18th, and again two nights later in the first period of a 6-2 victory over Assumption College.

Baker scored his first career goal on November 13th of this season, in a 3-0 win against Assumption. He then registered the first multi-goal effort of his career in a 10-3 victory at Franklin Pierce University on November 30th. As a freshman last season, Baker notched five points all coming on assists, including two in Stonehill's season-opening 8-3 victory against Johnson & Wales University.

Baker's selection to the NE-10 All-Championship team comes a week after Stonehill landed four student-athletes on the All-NE-10 first and second teams. Junior Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Mass./Thayer Academy) was named the conference's Goaltender of the Year, while sophomore forward Robbie Dorgan (Ossining, N.Y./Boston Bulldogs) joined him on the first team. Senior captain Bryan Rooney (Canton, Mass./New Hampton School) and sophomore defenseman Travis Army (Englewood, Colo./Worcester Academy) each earned spots on the second team.

Stonehill (16-10-0, 11-0-0 NE-10) won its first regular season NE-10 title in program history this season after becoming the first team to finish 11-0 in conference play. The Skyhawks also tied a program record this season with 16 wins, and set a new record with its ten-game winning streak from January 15th to February 20th.
