FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (December 3, 2013) – The Stonehill College ice hockey team fell behind 2-0 in the first period and allowed three goals in the third, as Framingham State University defeated Stonehill 6-4 tonight in non-conference action at Loring Arena.

Sophomore forward Robbie Dorgan (Ossining, N.Y./Boston Bulldogs), who was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week yesterday, recorded two points on a goal and an assist to add to his team-leading point total. Dorgan now has 16 points (seven goals, nine assists), and he leads the NE-10 with 2.00 points per game.

Classmate Richard Harris (Grand Island, N.Y./Valley Jr. Warriors) scored in his third consecutive contest, while juniors Kevin Aufiero (Canton, Mass./Walpole Express) and Travis Army (Englewood, Colo./Worcester Academy) each totaled two points for the Skyhawks. Senior captain Bryan Rooney (Canton, Mass./New Hampton School) also contributed a goal, his sixth of the season.

Starting his second consecutive game in net, sophomore goaltender Patrick Farrington (Sandwich, Mass./Bridgton Academy) made 29 saves but allowed six goals as Stonehill dropped its fourth non-conference contest in five games this season.

Framingham State was sparked offensively by senior forward Eric Ward (Haverhill, Mass./Valley Jr. Warriors), who registered a hat trick and added an assist to lead all players with four points. Classmate Tom Tracy (Wakefield, Mass./Hebron Academy) scored twice, and juniors Brendan McCarron (Millbury, Mass./St. John's) and Ryan McDonald (Anchorage, Alaska/Seattle Totems) each tallied three assists to help the Rams upend the Skyhawks.

Senior goaltender Nick Cafrelli (San Jose, Calif./Minnesota Owls) stopped 39 shots, including 19 in the third period, to preserve Framingham State's first win in four games.

The Rams got on the scoreboard first 9:10 into the opening period, when Tracy beat Farrington for his second goal of the season. Framingham State senior captain Bo Driscoll (Chelmsford, Mass./New England Huskies) then doubled the home team's advantage with a power play tally just a minute and a half later, before Stonehill responded with a power play score of its own by Dorgan to make the score 2-1 heading into the first intermission.

Harris then tied the contest at two apiece at the 8:02 mark of the second period, but the Rams would regain the lead 36 seconds later when Ward scored with the help of McCarron and McDonald.

Tracy's second score of the game 8:31 into the final period gave the home team a 4-2 lead, but Stonehill continued to fight back, as Rooney's goal a couple minutes later drew the Skyhawks to within one, at 4-3.

Framingham State went back up by two on Ward's second score of the night with under seven minutes left in the game, and then the Rams sealed their win as Ward completed his hat trick at the 16:56 mark. Stonehill would get one back on Aufiero's second goal of the season with 1:28 left in the game, but the Skyhawks were unable to come back further.
