EASTON, Mass. (February 10, 2013) – The Stonehill College ice hockey team fell behind early and never recovered as they dropped one to Southern New Hampshire 5-3 Sunday Night on Senior/Family and Friends Night at the Foxboro Sports Center.

Jim Gabrione (Boca Raton, Fla.) paced the Penmen with three points on two goals and an assist. Brian Troy (Ashburnham, Mass.) and Joe Collins (Mansfield, Mass.) also collected multi-point games for Southern New Hampshire, each notching two assists on the night. The Penmen also received points from Steven Berry (Ashburn, Va.), Jim O'Connor (Arlington, Mass.), Dane Caracino (Belmont, Mass.), and Michael Settipani (Charlestown, Mass.).

Defending NE-10 Goaltender of the Week Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) earned the win for Southern New Hampshire, posting 29 saves for the Penmen. Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Mass.) stopped 12 shots, but was pulled for freshman Matthew Palella (Chicago, Ill.) midway through the second period. Palella earned 12 saves of his own and only relinquished one goal in relief. The Skyhawks outshot the Penmen 32-29.

Senior Dana Borges (Taunton, Mass.) registered three assists in the final regular season home game of his celebrated career as a Skyhawk. Junior Bryan Rooney (Canton, Mass.) also recorded three points for Stonehill, notching two goals and an assist to move up to 30 points on the season. Andrew Miller (Oxford, Conn.) was the final Stonehill player to earn a point when he netted his third goal of the season.

The Penmen struck first early in the game when Settipani received a pass from Troy and slipped it past Tasiopoulos at 2:48 of the period. Southern New Hampshire snatched their second goal of the game on Gabrione's first of the game just six minutes later.

Stonehill responded at the end of the period when Borges dished a pass to Rooney, who finished it top shelf over the shoulder of Holske. The goal made it 2-1 heading into the second period.

Southern New Hampshire quickly extended their lead to 3-1, 2:22 into the second period when Berry squeezed a goal past Tasiopoulos. Gabrione made it 4-1 halfway through the second when he stole a pass in Stonehill's zone and wristed it in for his second of the game. The Penmen added their fifth goal at 11:28 of the second when Gabrione fed O'Connor for his first of the year.
