EASTON, Mass. (January 22, 2013) – Two members of the Stonehill College Ice Hockey team have earned Northeast-10 Conference weekly awards, it was announced Tuesday afternoon. Senior forward Dana Borges (Taunton, Mass.) was recognized as NE-10 Player of the Week, while freshman goaltender Matthew Palella (Chicago, Ill.) was tabbed NE-10 Rookie of the Week.

Borges, who currently leads the NE-10 in goals (12), assists (15), and total points (27), recorded three points during a 1-1-0 week for the Skyhawks. Following a 6-3 loss to Becker College on Wednesday, Borges erupted for two goals and an assist in a 4-3 conference victory over Franklin Pierce, Saturday. Borges scored the first goal of the game just 16 seconds into the first period, he added his second goal halfway through the second period, and earned an assist on the game-winning goal 15 minutes into the third. This is the first time Borges has been recognized by the NE-10 this season.

Palella earned his first career win Saturday night against Franklin Pierce. The goaltender recorded 25 saves on the night and held FPU scoreless in a 10-save third period. On the Year Palella is (1-2-0) with a .909 save percentage and a 2.80 goals against average. This is the second time that Palella has garnered conference recognition this season. He was previously named NE-10 Goaltender of the Week on December 18 following a 24 save performance in just his second career start, an overtime loss to Johnson and Wales.

Stonehill will host NE-10 rival Assumption College in a NE-10 Conference matchup Wednesday night at the Foxboro Sports Center.
