Borges' three points leads the Skyhawks over the Ravens.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (January 19, 2013) - The Stonehill College Skyhawks posted a 4-3 victory over Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 Conference play Saturday night at the Jason Ritchie Arena.

Senior captain Dana Borges (Taunton, Mass.) recorded two goals and dished out one assist on the night for the Skyhawks while assistant captain Bryan Rooney (Canton, Mass.) posted two assists. Robbie Dorgan (Ossining, N.Y.) added a goal for Stonehill to extend his team leading scoring streak to eight games. Freshman George DeMello (Cotuit, Mass.) earned his first collegiate point on a first period assist.

Freshman Matthew Palella (Chicago, Ill.) recorded his first career win for the Skyhawks, posting 25 saves, 10 of which came in the third period. Junior goaltender Dave O'Brien (Groton, Mass.) registered 30 saves for the Ravens. Stonehill outshot Franklin Pierce 34-28 on the night.

Three different players scored for the Ravens, including senior Michael Carr (South Boston, Mass.), classmate Sean Dunn (Quincy, Mass.), and freshman Paddy Murphy (York, Maine).  Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) added his team-leading ninth assist for Franklin Pierce.

Stonehill jumped out to a quick lead when Borges scored just 16 seconds into the game. Junior Bill Carey (Weymouth, Mass.) and DeMello were credited with assists on the goal. The Ravens answered back two minutes before the first intermission when Murphy netted the equalizer from junior Kyle Craig (Quincy, Mass.).

Franklin Pierce took a 3-1 lead on goals from Carr and Dunn. Carr's goal was unassisted, while Sweeney and Brendan McCarron (Andover, Mass.) earned assists on Dunn's goal.

Stonehill responded with three unanswered goals to end the game. Borges potted his team-leading 12th tally of the year on assists from Rooney and sophomore Brendan Greene (Weymouth, Mass.). Dorgan added the game-tying goal 5:12 before the second intermission assisted by Rooney and Kevin Aufiero (Canton, Mass.).

After 14 minutes of scoreless play in the third period, Greene netted the game-winner from Borges at 14:48. Borges' assist moved him to 27 points on the season which moved him eight points ahead of the next highest scorer.

The Skyhawks (8-10-0, 4-1-0 NE-10) return home to face NE-10 foe Assumption College on Wednesday, January 23rd at 7 p.m. at the Foxboro Sports Center. Franklin Pierce (4-8-2, 2-2 NE-10) will travel to face Southern New Hampshire on January 22nd at 7:30 p.m.
