Wesleyan Shuts Out Stonehill, 6-0

Guay, Kaiser score two goals apiece in victory

HARTFORD, Conn. (November 25, 2012) – The Wesleyan University men's ice hockey team posted a 6-0 shutout against Stonehill College in non-conference action on Sunday evening at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center, hosted by Trinity College.

Senior Adam Kaiser's (Stony Point, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep) third goal of the season at 12:14 of the first period was the difference as classmate and netminder Glenn Stowell (Hadley, Mass./Phillips Academy) made 22 saves to record the shutout for the Cardinals.

Kaiser added his second goal of the contest at 19:15 of the third period to cap the scoring. Senior forward John Guay (North Scituate, R.I./Salisbury School) added two goals, both in the third period, and one assist to also lead Wesleyan University offensively. Senior forward Nick Craven (Fort Collins, Colo./Phillips Academy) and junior forward Keith Buehler (Skaneateles, N.Y./Proctor Academy) both had goals in the second stanza.

Sophomore goaltender Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Mass./Thayer Academy) stopped 28 shots in 53 minutes and 16 seconds of action while backup netminder Will Husic (Glastonbury, Conn./Bridgton Academy) notched one save in six minutes and 44 second of ice time.

The Skyhawks went 0-for-3 on the power play while the Cardinals were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Stonehill (4-6-0, 2-0-0 NE-10) hosts Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, December 1 for a Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) tilt at the Foxboro Sports Center at 4:10 p.m. Wesleyan (3-2-0, 1-1-0 NESCAC) welcomes Amherst College for a conference matchup on Friday, November 30 at 7 p.m.
