CANTON PATCH: Four Canton Residents Take To The Ice For Stonehill College

They could be the Canton Skyhawks or the Stonehil Bulldogs.

When the Stonehill College men's hockey team takes to the ice, they have a strong Canton influence with four players from town on their team.

The Skyhawks took a 2-4 record into this week's action. Stonehill will be playing Assumption College, Saturday, Nov. 17 at 4:35 p.m. at their home rink, the Foxboro Sports Center.

In senior season, former Canton High standout Sean McNeil is a forward on the squad, appearing in the five out of the first six games of the season with an assist. Career-wise, McNeil has appeared in 53 games with eight goals and seven assists for 15 points. He has been a standut in the classroom, making the Division 2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, being twice named to NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll as a junior, the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.

Former Canton High standout Bryan Rooney is a junior forward on the team and has two goals and two assists for four points. A year ago, he scored eight goals in 25 games, while he had 10 goals and three assists in 23 games. Going into this season, Rooney had seven power play goals.

A 2010 graduate of Xaverian High, Kevin Aufiero is a sophomore forward after making the NE-10 All-Rookie Team last year and made the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. As a freshman, he tied for 17th overall in scoring with eight goals and nine assists for 17 points. This year, he has two goals and an assist for three points. He also played for the Walpole Express, which finished third at the nationals.

Thomas Jenkins has appeared in two games as a freshman forward. He played for Williston Northhamption.
