EASTON, Mass. (August 27, 2012) – Stonehill College senior forward Patrick Greene (Weymouth, Mass./Catholic Memorial) has signed a contract with the Telford Tigers of the English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL), it was announced earlier today.

"I am really excited for this opportunity to play with the Telford Tigers," said Greene. "I have always dreamed of being able to play professional hockey, it is going to be a great experience."

Greene, an All-Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) selection last season, played in all 25 games for the Skyhawks leading the team in scoring with 28 points on seven goals and 21 assists. Greene finished in a two-way tie for second place overall in the NE-10 in points to help guide Stonehill to the NE-10 championship game for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

"Patrick's signing with the Telford Tigers is not only great for the hockey program at Stonehill, but it is also great for the conference," said head coach Patrick Leahy. "I am excited for Patrick in that he will be able to play professionally and continue to get better by playing overseas."

Greene, who currently ranks 11th overall on the all-time career assists leaderboard at Stonehill, tallied 82 career points (24 goals, 58 assists) over 88 games played at the College. Last season, Greene put together a ten-game point streak – the longest streak on the team for the season – amassing 20 points total from November 5, 2011 to December 10, 2011 netting four goals and dishing out 16 assists. For his efforts during the tail end of the scoring streak, Greene was named the NE-10 Player of the Week for the first time in his career helping Stonehill to a 2-0-1 record with nine points during that stretch.

"I expect him [Greene] to be a top player for us and to feature in some key roles," said Telford Tigers head coach Tom Watkins. "He has been a go-to guy on his team and plays well under pressure."

Stonehill compiled a 10-12-3 record overall and 6-3-2 mark in conference play last season to make its third appearance overall in the NE-10 championship game in program history. The Skyhawks defeated Assumption College, 3-1, in the semifinal round before falling to Saint Anselm College, 4-1, in the title game on the road.
