Tasiopoulos Named NE-10 Goaltender Of The Week

Freshman netminder stops 67 shots and records one shutout in a 1-1 week overall

EASTON, Mass. (November 15, 2011) – Freshman goaltender Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Mass./Thayer Academy) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Goaltender of the Week for the first time in his career by the league office, it was announced earlier today.

Tasiopoulos was the difference for the Skyhawks in a 1-1 week overall making 67 saves in two starts. The freshman netminder lifted Stonehill to its first win of the season over Nichols College, 2-0, on Saturday turning away 36 shots, including a game-high 18 in the third period, for his first ever collegiate victory and shutout. Tasiopoulos also made 31 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to Plymouth State University on Thursday.

In four games played this season, Tasiopoulos has compiled 124 saves in 236:49 minutes of play for a .919 save percentage and a 2.79 goals against average (GAA). Tasiopoulos ranks third in the NE-10 in save percentage and GAA and is first in both categories among all freshman goaltenders in the conference.

Stonehill (1-4-0, 0-0-0 NE-10) travels to Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday, November 16 in a NE-10 matchup at 7:30 p.m.
