Anderson guides Hawks in opening round of Becker Ice Breaker Tournament

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (November 4, 2011) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Becker College in non-conference action on Friday night in the opening round of the Becker Ice Breaker Tournament.

Sophomore forward Korby Anderson (Owantonna, MN.) factored into four of the Hawks' five goals on the night potting two goals and dishing out two assists to pace the offense. Branden Parkhouse (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) notched three assists while David Graham (Rancho Cucamongo, CA) handed out two helpers.

Stonehill junior forward Sean McNeil (Canton, Mass./Canton) opened up the scoring at 1:48 in the first period finishing on a nice feed from teammate Kevin Aufiero (Canton, Mass.) for a 1-0 advantage early on.

Anderson responded for Becker at 10:54 on assists from Parkhouse and Graham for his first goal of the season and it was all Hawks after that.

In the second period, Anderson teamed up with Graham and Parkhouse again for his second tally of the night beating Skyhawks freshman goalkeeper Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Mass./Thayer Academy) at 3:25 for a 2-1 lead.

Graham potted his first goal of the season at 11:36 of the third period as Anderson returned the favor along with Parkhouse to make it 3-1.

Freshman forward Richard Woodworth (Carlisle, Mass.) found the back of the net at 16:58 on the power play on feeds from Anderson and Nick Di Nardo (Wellington, Fla.) for a 4-1 gap.

Senior forward Robert Johnson (Fenton, Mich.) added an empty net goal for his first of the season at 19:19 to round out the scoring for Becker.

Tasiopoulos turned away 23 shots in net for Stonehill in the loss while senior goaltender Jake Rosenthal (Wantagh, N.Y.) made 18 saves to earn his first win of the season.

Stonehill (0-2-0, 0-0-0 NE-10) plays Assumption College tomorrow in the consolation round of the Becker Ice Breaker Tournament at 2:30 p.m. Becker (1-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) hosts Suffolk in the championship round of the tournament at 1:50 p.m.
