Jackson Named Northeast-10 Goaltender of the Week

Little Silver, N.J. native honored for strong start to season

 

EASTON, Mass. (November 10, 2010) – Stonehill College junior Tyler Jackson (Little Silver, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) has been named the Northeast-10 Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week for the week of November 1-7 by the conference office. He earns his fourth career nomination, after he was a three-time honoree last season.

Jackson backstopped the Skyhawks to a 4-2 victory over Johnson & Wales University in Tuesday's season opener, making 30 saves to earn his first win of the season. He stopped 11 shots in the second period to hold Johnson & Wales scoreless and protect an early Stonehill lead, and made seven stops in the final period to turn back a rally by the Wildcats. He also made 34 saves in a loss at Friday's Becker Ice Breaker Tournament opener against Becker College to finish the week at 1-1.

Through the first week of the season, Jackson ranks second in the NE-10 with a 4.50 goals against average and .877 save percentage.

Stonehill (1-2) visits Nichols College on Saturday at 4:35 p.m.
