MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (November 6, 2010) – The Stonehill College ice hockey team was blanked 1-0 by Suffolk University in Saturday’s consolation game at the non-conference Becker College Ice Breaker Tournament.

Suffolk senior Dan Dandreo (Swampscott, Mass.) scored at 3:04 of the first period, and it would be all the Rams would need as senior goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) made 21 saves to shut out the Skyhawks. Senior Derek Chapdelaine (Granby, Mass./Springfield Cathedral) stopped 32 shots, including 11 in the third period, to keep Stonehill in the game. Senior Angelo Todesca (Westwood, Mass./Catholic Memorial) was named to the All-Tournament Team for his two-goal effort over the weekend.

The Skyhawks saw seven power-play opportunities but were unable to convert against Rose, managing eight shots on goal in each of the final two periods. Suffolk went 0 for 3 on the power play as the Skyhawks killed off two late third-period penalties to keep the deficit at 1-0.

Stonehill (1-2) is back on the ice at Nichols College next Saturday at 4:35 p.m.
